Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Manager of Manufacturing Accounting to join Party City. In this role, you will oversee the accounting functions related to our manufacturing operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, cost management, and compliance in accordance with GAAP accounting controls. You will work closely with the manufacturing, supply chain, and finance teams to develop and maintain systems that improve efficiency, track costs, and provide insightful financial analysis to support decision-making.

 

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Oversee all accounting processes related to manufacturing, including inventory accounting, cost accounting, and product costing.
  • Maintain accurate records of material, labor, and overhead costs for manufacturing operations.
  • Ensure proper allocation of costs to both finished goods and work-in-process inventories.
  • Analyze manufacturing variances (e.g., labor, material usage) and provide recommendations for cost improvements.
  • Monitor and review the accuracy of inventory valuation and perform periodic physical counts or reconciliations.
  • Develop and implement internal controls to ensure accurate cost tracking, inventory management, and financial reporting.
  • Partner with supply chain and business leaders to provide consultative support on planning initiatives through financial and management analysis, reports and recommendations
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies for manufacturing accounting activities.
  • Manage audits related to manufacturing operations and inventory, ensuring accurate and timely completion.
  • Continuously identify and implement process improvements in the accounting for manufacturing, including automation and system enhancements.
  • Work with supply chain, manufacturing, and IT teams to optimize Oracle and other financial systems used for cost accounting and inventory management.
  • Participation in other related projects and/or duties as required

Skills Required:

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial analysis tools including Sage, Compaq, Oracle, BPCS.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Knowledge of GAAP and compliance requirements related to manufacturing and inventory accounting.

 Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • CPA preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing accounting, preferably in a retail or wholesale environment.
  • Strong understanding of cost accounting, inventory management, and manufacturing processes.
  • Familiarity with wholesale distribution accounting processes.
  • Proven ability to drive process improvements and increase operational efficiency.
  • Ability to read, write and speak Spanish is a plus
