Job Overview:

This individual will focus on providing counsel to sales team members and customer contacts to enable growth for the PCHI Wholesale division.  This will be enabled by leveraging an objective category focused mindset, conducting rigorous analytical practices, and translating data into predictive category and shopper insights that inform and influence customer business decisions. The role will be responsible for assisting in the development of high-performance category management strategies that drive growth for the division’s top customers and helps them establish leadership positions in their respective celebration categories.  Internally, the role will be the primary point of contact for providing market trends, assortment optimization guidance, promotional program analysis, and space management direction.  This will be supported using all available tools and data sources to provide an understanding of the competitive landscape, consumer trends, the roles our products and brands play in consumers’ lives, and identification of white space opportunities.  They will partner closely with internal cross-functional teams to socialize learnings and best practices to optimize future strategies and tactics for the division.

 Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Analyzing customer sales and shopper data to become subject matter expert of the Amscan portfolio of products, category trends, and shopper insights.
  • Delivering foundational insights that materially impact business decisions regarding the growth of the portfolio through Assortment, Merchandising, Pricing, and Shelving guidance.
  • Using portfolio, category, and shopper knowledge to build best in class planograms that drive growth for Amscan and its customers.
  • Building a world class category advisor relationship with 2-3 key customers to ensure Amscan is viewed as the category expert and is asked to advise on all major category projects.
  • Partner closely with sales, brand marketing, product development, channel & customer development, and finance to ensure the integration of learnings into ongoing strategic planning.
  • Assist in the management of relationships with reputable and emerging insights providers to ensure that Amscan maintains a competitive advantage versus competitors in the celebration category.
  • Build strong, two-way relationships with other sources of insights including but not limited to brand, retail execution and analytics teams, ecommerce team, and social media.

 Skills Required:

  • Superior analytical skillset: ability to sift through data to mobilize insights and build a story from multiple sources.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to present information in a compelling and effective manner both internally and externally to customers.
  • Exceptional Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Experience building planograms using Blue Yonder space management software
  • Superior cross-functional partnership, communication, and collaboration skills
  • Links customers directly to Amscan strategy and consumer needs
  • High energy and passion for achievement. Is influential, collaborative, and adaptable to the needs of others.
  • Ability to navigate, influence and work in partnership with others in a heavily matrixed organization, ensuring all necessary stakeholders are engaged and informed.

 Qualifications:

  • BA/BS in related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a category management, market research or analytics role within a CPG company.
